Dragon’s Heart is a fiery, smoky sour with a glowing red core. Fresh lime wedges are muddled first for a bright, zesty base. Aged rum adds warmth with notes of caramel and toasted oak, and a measure of mezcal brings a curl of smoke like embers from a dragon’s breath. Elderflower liqueur adds a soft floral sweetness, while ginger liqueur supplies a slow-building heat. Blood orange juice gives the drink its deep crimson colour and a tangy, juicy citrus flavour. Five dashes of aromatic bitters tie it all together. It’s served in a chilled goblet, fit for a dragon’s hoard. The drink is bold, layered and a little dangerous, with smoke, spice and fruit in every sip.
Start by muddling the lime wedges in a shaker. Add the rest of the ingredients with 2/3rds of ice. Shake until chilled and serve in a chilled goblet. (Wine glass can do in a pinch)
