Cynar's artichoke-based bitterness meets sweet vermouth here, brightened with a splash of lemon juice and a few dashes of orange bitters, finished with a swath of lemon peel for aroma. That peel adds a fresh citrus lift right over Cynar's earthy, vegetal notes. Low-proof and herbal, it's designed as a before-dinner aperitivo rather than a nightcap. A good introduction to Cynar for anyone who hasn't cooked with or drunk it before.

- Lemon Peel1 swath
- Cynar2 oz
- Sweet Vermouth1 oz
- Lemon Juice0.25 oz
- Orange Bitters3 dash
Instructions
Squeeze a lemon zest twist's oils into a mixing glass and drop the zest in. Add remaining ingredients and stir well with ice, then strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with an additional expressed lemon zest twist.
