Whiskey Sour cocktail in a Old-Fashioned Glass

Whiskey Sour

Whiskey Cocktail Alcoholic IBA: Unforgettables

🥃 Serve in: Old-Fashioned Glass

Whiskey, lemon juice, and sugar get shaken hard enough to build a proper head of froth -- one of the oldest sour formulas on record, and still the template most others borrow from. Bartending guides were already writing it down in the 1860s, which makes it older than most of the bars serving it today. Order it over ice, up in a coupe, or topped with egg white for the silkier Boston Sour variant; all three trace back to the same balance of spirit, sour, and sweet that's kept it in constant rotation for over a century.
