Scotch and Drambuie, just the two of them, finished with a lemon peel twist -- the Drambuie's honeyed sweetness takes Scotch's smoky intensity and rounds it into something far more approachable without erasing the smoke entirely. Simple enough to have stayed a bar staple since the mid-20th century, and it hasn't needed updating since.

Instructions
Pour the Scotch and Drambuie into an old-fashioned glass almost filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Garnish with the lemon twist.
