Moscow Mule cocktail in a Copper Mug

Moscow Mule

Vodka Punch / Party Drink Alcoholic IBA: Contemporary Classics

🥃 Serve in: Copper Mug

Vodka, fresh lime juice, and spicy ginger beer, always poured into a copper mug -- not for tradition's sake, but because copper actually keeps the drink colder than glass ever could. It was dreamed up in the 1940s as a joint marketing stunt to move unsold vodka and unsold ginger beer at the same time, which makes it possibly the most successful ad campaign ever disguised as a cocktail. Decades later it's one of the most-ordered drinks on earth, and that mug is doing almost as much work as the recipe.
