Martini
3 shared ingredients · also Gin
🥃 Serve in: Cocktail Glass
Gin and dry vermouth, stirred with ice and finished with an olive -- three ingredients that have somehow generated more arguments than almost anything else behind a bar. Shaken or stirred, how dry, what garnish: the debates are half the fun, and the drink survives every one of them. "Dry" here just means less vermouth, though people will die on that hill regardless. It's the Martini every other Martini gets measured against, and worth understanding straight before you start customizing it.
Straight: Pour all ingredients into mixing glass with ice cubes. Stir well. Strain in chilled martini cocktail glass. Squeeze oil from lemon peel onto the drink, or garnish with olive.
