Light rum meets lime juice here, brightened with a touch of grenadine for color and sweetness -- a classic Prohibition-era rum sour built specifically around Bacardi's light rum. Simple, crisp, and citrus-forward, it became notable enough that a 1936 New York court case ruled it had to be made with actual Bacardi brand rum to bear the name. Shaken hard and served up, a clean showcase for a good white rum -- and a quiet, historically important corner of cocktail law.
Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
