Blended Scotch meets sweet vermouth and aromatic bitters here -- the Scotch-based sibling of the Manhattan. Named after a Broadway operetta about the Scottish folk hero, it's been a staple of Scotch cocktail menus since the 1890s. The vermouth's sweetness softens Scotch's smoky intensity into something warmly balanced. Stirred and served up in a coupe, garnished with a cherry.
Ingredients
- Scotch Whisky2 oz
- Sweet Vermouth1 oz
- Bitters8 drop
Instructions
Stir all ingredients with ice, then fine strain into a chilled coupe. Express an orange twist over the drink and discard, then garnish with a cherry.
