Scotch whisky, cherry brandy, sweet vermouth, and orange juice all share the glass here in close to equal parts, with a splash more single malt layered in on top of the blended Scotch for extra peat. Named after the 1930 Rudolph Valentino bullfighting film, the combination sounds unlikely on paper but works surprisingly well, with the cherry brandy and orange juice softening Scotch's smoky edge. One of the few classic cocktails that pairs orange juice successfully with whisky.

Instructions
Shake all ingredients with ice. Fine strain into a chilled coupe. Express an orange zest twist over the drink and discard, then garnish with a skewered maraschino cherry.
