Just vodka and coffee liqueur over ice -- one of the most enduring two-ingredient cocktails in the modern canon. Invented in Belgium in the 1940s, reportedly named for the vodka's Russian origins during the Cold War era. Strong, slightly sweet, and coffee-forward, it's the direct ancestor of the cream-topped White Russian. Served in a rocks glass, about as simple as spirit-forward drinking gets.

Instructions
Stir both ingredients with ice and strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with a skewered lemon wheel and a maraschino cherry.
