History
Lillet Blanc is the direct descendant of Kina Lillet, the original 1887 formula created by the Lillet brothers, but with reduced quinine and sugar following a 1985 reformulation under new ownership aimed at broadening its appeal with a lighter, fruitier profile. Because the original Kina Lillet was discontinued as part of that change, Lillet Blanc is now the standard modern substitute in classic recipes that specifically called for Kina Lillet, including Ian Fleming's Vesper Martini from Casino Royale, though purists note the modern version is noticeably less bitter than what Fleming's era would have used (Cocchi Americano is often considered a closer flavor match to the original).

Light, fruity, and floral, with citrus and honey notes and only a mild underlying bitterness.
Tasting notes
Bright stone fruit and citrus dominate, with a soft floral sweetness and only a gentle bitter edge remaining from its quinine content, making it noticeably softer and more approachable than the original Kina Lillet or Cocchi Americano.
